Subsection 1 | Tita's first day

Dearest Ladies, and Gentlemen, and Androgynous,

This subsection details Tita's first day of arrival in Pompeii in 70 AD. Tita has traveled from Rome to Pompeii with a group of women dancers from Bactria, a region formerly part of the Greek-Bactrian Kingdom. The subsection describes Tita's experiences during her first day in Pompeii.

Characters include:

• - Tita- a twenty-year-old woman from Gaul

• - Claudia- Tita's cousin

• - Caecilia- the woman Tita first encounters and who will be her roommate at Aurelia’s villa

• - Tacitus- Aurelia’s husband and ex-gladiator
